📋 Description

• Build observability across the Django API, data pipelines and warehouse using metrics, logs, traces and alerts • Improve GitLab CI/CD pipelines with review and deployment controls • Remove direct-to-production paths and improve release controls • Establish a reliable weekly release rhythm • Make GCP spend visible by workload and product area and reduce waste • Improve Terraform and Kubernetes infrastructure for reproducibility, security and documentation • Strengthen reliability across Datastream, Pub/Sub, dbt and BigQuery pipelines • Add failure detection, freshness checks, replay paths and clear ownership • Help shape incident-management and on-call practices • Convert recurring failures into automated checks and safeguards • Partner with application and data engineers while supporting the production platform • Take ownership of substantial DevOps workstreams and deliver improvements through production

🎯 Requirements

• Strong experience running production services on GCP • Practical knowledge of Kubernetes and Terraform, including operating and improving infrastructure • Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines in GitLab or a similar platform • Experience instrumenting real systems and improving metrics, logging, tracing or alerting • Experience attributing cloud spend, finding waste and making informed trade-offs • Experience operating data pipelines, including streaming ingestion, warehouse loads, dbt transformations or similar workflows • Ability to challenge unsafe changes and explain required pre-release actions • Practical experience with AI coding tools such as Cursor or Claude, including providing context and verifying infrastructure changes • Ability to assess imperfect systems, prioritize improvements and carry them through to production • Enough Python experience to investigate or fix issues in a Django application • Security or compliance experience in an enterprise SaaS environment (nice to have) • Experience designing incident-management or on-call processes (nice to have) • BigQuery cost and performance tuning experience (nice to have) • Must be based in the UK or the Netherlands
