📋 Description

• Architect and design critical, forward-facing parts of the Automation Platform • Set Samsara’s strategy around Event Architecture and reusable RPCs • Ensure product can scale to production demands while maintaining system flexibility • Shape how customers automate operations during active rollout with high feature velocity • Work with product managers, designers, firmware, and infra engineers to architect, build, test, and deliver full-stack features across front-end, back-end, and mobile • Maintain production systems owned by the team and provide operational support • Help build team culture and make it an enjoyable place to work • Solve problems that enable the product for global customers • Partner with other teams to intake requirements for prioritization and evangelize the platform • Champion and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team)

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of industry experience building and operating production software systems • Proficiency in at least one backend language (Go, Java, C#, or equivalent). Node is acceptable; Python/Ruby not preferred due to scale concerns • Proficiency in building scalable and maintainable front-end applications using TypeScript and React, or similar component-based JavaScript frameworks • Experience designing and architecting large, high-scale systems • A focus on and desire to mentor fellow engineers • An ability to estimate, communicate, and deliver upon project milestones with your team • Experience with a public cloud such as AWS • Experience leveraging LLMs or similar for day-to-day coding (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code) [ideal] • Experience with workflow engines, state machines, or orchestration platforms (e.g., Temporal, Step Functions, Airflow) [ideal] • Contributed heavily to driving significant value to customers [ideal] • Curious about customers and eager to improve their day-to-day experience [ideal] • Loves shipping features iteratively with immediate use by customers [ideal] • A Bachelor’s or higher in Computer Science or related discipline [ideal] • Must be residing in Canada for this remote role
