Creating a target company list

  Skip the scattergun approach of applying to every vaguely relevant job. Build a targeted company list instead.

  Start with about 20 to 30 companies you care about (use AI or desk research). Include places where you know people and companies you’ve seen in the news.

  For each company, check:

  • •Are they hiring now, and for what kinds of roles?
  • •Do you already have a LinkedIn connection there to reach out to?
• •

  Mix dream / stretch companies with more realistic ones. You can still apply outside the list ad hoc, but the list keeps you focused.

  Use Remote Rocketship filters to discover remote-friendly companies you don’t know yet.

  For each target company:

  1. Follow the company page on LinkedIn
  2. Set up job alerts across your platforms
  3. Follow talent / hiring managers and engage (comment, repost) to build visibility
