Summary

  • Your headline shows on comments, posts, and recruiter search results, treat it as high value real estate.

  • Don’t use job title alone. Recruiters search by skills/keywords, not broad titles that return thousands of hits.

  • Include keywords for the role you want (especially if different from your current title).

  • Formula: role + keywords recruiters would search

    • “UX Designer | User Research & Prototyping | Consumer Apps”
    • “Data Analyst | SQL & Experimentation | Marketplace”
    • “HR Business Partner | Employee Relations & Org Design | Tech Startups”
  • Character limits matter:

    • About 220 characters total
    • Only about 60 to 70 appear in search snippets, put the strongest keywords first
  • If outreach is weak, change the headline and test again.
