  • Don’t treat LinkedIn as only a digital address book of people you already know well.

  • Connect strategically with:

    • Recruiters who hire in your industry, message that you’re interested in moving and ask to check in every few weeks if they’re busy
    • Hiring / talent teams at target companies, so their job posts appear in your feed and you can act early
    • People already doing the job you want, their posts/comments give you content ideas and industry signal

  • People who get hired aren’t always the “best” candidates, they’re often the best connected.

  • If connecting feels too bold:

    1. Follow first
    2. Comment on their posts to warm the relationship
    3. Send a connection request once they recognize you
