📋 Description

• Collect, review, and manage political violence and protest data across Yemen • Review news, international organization, NGO, and security reports • Record political-violence incidents in an Excel template • Code events ranging from protests to battles to provide holistic coverage of current political violence • Ensure the quality, consistency, and reliability of produced data • Submit deliverables mid-week and on weekends as required • Complete extensive ACLED training and exercises • Provide detail-oriented quantitative data production and management

🎯 Requirements

• University degree in international relations, political science, conflict studies, peacebuilding, international development, or related field • Familiarity with Excel (essential) • Fluency in English (essential) • Fluency in Arabic (essential) • Experience conducting desk-based research • Experience working to deadlines with limited supervision • High level of attention to detail and ability to receive and incorporate feedback • Research focus or professional experience in conflict research or peace-building in the Middle East generally, or country-specific studies is a strong advantage • Familiarity with conflict and actors in the relevant countries • Access to a computer, reliable internet connection, email, and Microsoft Office Suite • Availability for a minimum of 35 to 40 hours per week • Ability to work with conflict-related media and read about violent events • Nationals of any country may apply • Successful completion of ACLED training exercises at the required level • Ability to complete a two-hour coding aptitude exercise if shortlisted
