📋 Description

• Own ActBlue's comprehensive internal communications strategy — defining KPIs, goals, benchmarks, and success metrics for the function, and driving accountability against them • Lead both strategic direction and hands-on production, setting the framework for organizational communications while personally executing high-impact content including executive messages, all-staff meeting materials, and the internal newsletter • Own production and strategic direction of ActBlue's internal newsletter, including content strategy, editorial calendar, and channel standards that engage, inform, and inspire staff while advancing organizational objectives • Define and maintain standards for all internal communication channels (Slack, email, Confluence), including editorial calendars, style guidelines, and quality benchmarks • Lead content development and set the strategic direction for quarterly virtual All-Staff Meetings (200+ attendees), independently translating organizational objectives into compelling programming that drives employee engagement • Partner closely with People & Culture to support change management communications and employee experience goals, ensuring organizational changes are communicated effectively across the workforce • Own 25% of content creation for annual in-person All-Staff Retreats, producing programming that strengthens organizational culture and connection across the distributed workforce • Prepare and counsel Executive Leadership Team members directly for internal communications events and high-stakes situations, providing strategic guidance and proactively identifying issues before they escalate • Serve as the top-level escalation point and subject matter expert on internal communications for all staff, managers, and leaders — and as a key thought partner for senior leaders and the executive team • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in all communications, working closely with DEI leadership to ensure inclusive messaging, authentic representation of lived experiences, and accessibility considerations for remote and distributed staff across all demographics • Receive advance, confidential briefings on contemplated organizational changes, restructurings, and workforce actions prior to union notice, including the underlying business rationale and labor strategy, in order to develop communications sequencing that protects bargaining leverage and legal notice timelines • Define and drive communication effectiveness metrics, using data to continuously refine strategy and demonstrate the impact of the internal communications function to leadership

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive communications experience with demonstrated success owning and driving strategy for large-scale internal communication programs in organizations of 150+ employees, preferably in nonprofit, advocacy, and/or technology organizations; dedicated internal communications experience is required • Proven track record of serving as a senior advisor to Executive-level leaders, independently leading communications strategy and providing counsel on sensitive, high-stakes organizational matters with excellent judgment and discretion • Demonstrated ability to independently define goals, benchmarks, and success metrics for a communications function, and to hold the organization accountable to them • Systems-level mastery of how communications impacts employee engagement, organizational culture, and business effectiveness, with the ability to translate that into strategy, roadmaps, and measurable outcomes • Exceptional writing and content development skills with a portfolio demonstrating ability to craft compelling, strategic communications for diverse audiences and sensitive organizational topics • Proven success operating with full autonomy, independently prioritizing large and complex work and proactively identifying and addressing issues before they escalate • Executive presence and high judgment; ability to navigate any setting with senior leaders, including the executive team, and deliver strategic value during high-stakes communications situations requiring discretion and political acumen • Cultural competency and demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in communication practices, with experience creating inclusive content that authentically represents diverse lived experiences and perspectives • Ability to work effectively across multiple time zones and collaborate with distributed teams
