📋 Description

• Serve as editorial lead for multiple book projects simultaneously, including at least 50 book projects annually • Organize, plan, and manage the execution of editorial processes • Perform developmental and/or substantive edits on assigned manuscripts • Provide editorial direction on voice and tone, structure and flow, style, and grammatical consistency • Ensure content meets book-plan goals and remains within contracted scope, including word count, research hours, and footnotes • Complete developmental edits within project timelines and proactively communicate timeline changes • Oversee and collaborate with external ghostwriters and editorial vendors • Complete line edits and final content reviews for quality assurance • Secure final member sign-offs on line edits • Provide concise project status updates and communicate workflow challenges and solutions • Oversee and edit written collateral, including book descriptions, cover and web copy, and author bios • Report budget updates to publishing leadership and finance teams • Perform production-related tasks, including styling manuscripts for typesetting, titling research, plagiarism and AI text checks, permissions and releases, image-file curation, and proofreading endorsements • Participate in team meetings and project launch meetings • Maintain Advantage’s reputation for excellent service to high-achieving authors • Mentor and assist authors through high-level editorial phases • Maintain Monday boards and project documents so teams have current content status • Collaborate with production editors, designers, copy editors, proofreaders, book architecture, ghostwriting, manufacturing, promotions, distribution, and publishing leadership teams

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field • 5+ years of experience in written content editorial • Preferred category focus in business, finance, marketing, management, motivation, self-help, biography, and/or autobiography • Fluency in The Chicago Manual of Style (CMoS) • Familiarity with observing CMoS and a house style guide simultaneously • Demonstrable understanding of various levels of editing • Familiarity with industry-standard publishing tools and software • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the book publishing industry preferred • Meticulous attention to detail • Proven process for keeping tasks and milestones on schedule • Experience managing multiple projects at different stages simultaneously • Ability to independently manage priorities and meet assigned due dates • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Ability to adjust quickly to changing priorities and conditions • Ability to navigate project scope creep proactively • Problem-solving mindset and flexibility to test new approaches • Ability to establish collaborative working relationships with internal and external team members • Ability to solicit high-caliber freelance work and pivot the team when deliverables fall short • Ability to maintain stable performance and professional standards under pressure • Ability to sit for extended periods and use computers, keyboards, and telephones • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds
