⢠Develop and design heat rejection and HVAC systems tailored for data centers, addressing cooling type, cooling loads, future flexibility, phased construction and operation, airflow management, humidity control, redundancy, energy efficiency, and standards compliance ⢠Select appropriate air- and water-side cooling systems, including fan wall units, CRAHs, chilled water systems, DX systems, CRAC units, in-row cooling, and containment solutions ⢠Conduct internal CFD simulations to optimize airflow, analyze transient periods, identify hotspots, and ensure efficient cooling ⢠Conduct external CFD analyses for individual buildings and campuses to evaluate component interactions and design-day capacity criteria ⢠Prepare or direct preparation of CFD models, analyze results, recommend design modifications, and optimize heat rejection and HVAC performance ⢠Coordinate design changes and resulting effects with other project trades ⢠Design redundant and fault-tolerant HVAC systems, including backup cooling, automatic switchover, and monitoring systems ⢠Perform data center heat-load calculations based on IT equipment, power density, anticipated growth, and construction and operational phasing ⢠Conduct capacity planning for future expansions and upgrades, including HVAC loads for administrative and common facility areas ⢠Implement energy-efficient HVAC strategies, including economizers, variable speed drives, energy recovery systems, and airflow optimization ⢠Design filtration and air-quality monitoring systems to control particulate matter, humidity, and contaminants ⢠Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers to integrate HVAC and heat rejection systems with electrical infrastructure, UPS, emergency power, fire suppression, and other critical systems ⢠Work in a hands-on, client-facing role with global AECOM teams on high-profile data center projects
⢠Bachelor's Degree with 6+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education ⢠Experience in data center mechanical and electrical equipment installation and operation ⢠P.E. registration is required ⢠Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, HVAC engineering, or a related field from an accredited university is typically required ⢠Knowledge of data center TER Standard Topology per Uptime Institute, TIA 942, and ANSI/BICSI 002 ⢠Professional HVAC certifications such as CEM, BEMP, or LEED accreditation are advantageous ⢠Ability to work remotely in the U.S. and travel periodically for client meetings, project milestones, onsite collaboration, or other business-critical activities ⢠Must attend in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office ⢠Relocation is not available ⢠Sponsorship is not available
