• Act as the Data Center Mechanical Engineer Lead and primary point of contact for clients • Design and oversee construction of mechanical systems for hyperscale data centers, including HVAC, piping, and fire suppression systems • Coordinate multiple disciplines and lead the mechanical team, including HVAC, fire protection, and plumbing • Develop detailed specifications for mechanical equipment such as pumps, fans, and air handling units • Write internal and external reports based on findings • Ensure discipline plans meet project scope, budget, and schedule requirements • Stay current on applicable mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection codes and technologies • Analyze mechanical system performance and recommend upgrades • Provide technical support during construction, respond to RFIs, and address project issues • Attend job site visits, project meetings, and commissioning activities as needed • Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations • Evaluate and recommend technologies and equipment to improve performance and reduce operating costs • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate chiller systems with data center infrastructure • Analyze energy usage and identify optimization and cost-saving opportunities • Work with global AECOM teams on high-profile data center projects for global clients
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering plus ten (10) years of relevant experience in mechanical design and/or mechanical engineering, focused on data center infrastructure, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education • Professional Engineer License (P.E.) is required • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering plus twelve (12) years of relevant experience • Extensive experience in mechanical engineering for data centers or other critical facilities • Strong knowledge of HVAC, piping, and fire suppression systems design and construction • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills • Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships • Ability to think creatively and identify opportunities to enhance the client experience • Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) and building information modeling (BIM) software • Experience with data center design and construction, including design criteria and industry standards • Must be able to work from an eligible location in the United States • Relocation is not available • Sponsorship is available
