📋 Description

• Join AECOM's U.S. West Rockies Environmental Planning and Permitting team as an experienced on-call paleontologist • Conduct paleontological fieldwork and field monitoring operations • Provide taxonomic identification of vertebrate and/or invertebrate fossils to genus- or species-level • Prepare strong, concise technical reports and perform research and data management • Direct field recovery of fossil specimens • Travel and conduct fieldwork throughout the Western U.S. • Work with crew members, supervisors, clients, and AECOM's global technical practice network • Participate in environmental planning and permitting projects addressing complex environmental challenges

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in paleontology or related field such as geology or biology • 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education focused on paleontological fieldwork and technical reports • Paleontological fieldwork experience in Western US • Ability to provide taxonomic identification of vertebrate and/or invertebrate fossils to genus- or species-level • Expertise in field monitoring operations • Strong, concise writing, research, and data management skills • Ability to travel and conduct fieldwork throughout Western US • Ability to walk/trek over uneven terrain and long distances in extreme weather conditions for extended periods • Valid U.S. driver's license required • Ability to travel to job sites safely • U.S. Citizenship required • M.S. or Ph.D. in Paleontology or related field preferred • 6+ years of relevant paleontology experience preferred • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local environmental regulations • Knowledge of regional geology of the Western U.S. • Ability to direct field recovery of fossil specimens • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision • Ability to read topographic, geological, and project maps • Ability to work cooperatively with crew members, supervisors, and clients • Relocation is not available
