📋 Description

• Complete legal and factual research • Prepare motions, legal memos, resource guides, position statements, model laws, and other written work products • Assist attorneys in responding to crimes against animals • Assist in broadening the ability of animal law to secure just outcomes for animal victims • Provide investigatory and trial-level assistance to criminal justice professionals • Produce amicus curiae briefs • Support legislative efforts to improve animal cruelty laws • Educate criminal justice practitioners about criminal law and animal law • Craft legal arguments concerning criminal jurisprudence and animals • Participate in organizational networking and mission-related activities

🎯 Requirements

• Current 2L (or part-time program equivalent) or LLM student at an ABA accredited law school • Eligibility to work in the United States • Sincere interest in animal protection • Superior legal research and writing skills, including ability to tailor voice and style to various audiences • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to work cooperatively in a mission-driven, team-oriented environment • Willingness to accept a variety of assignments within animal law • Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time management skills • Ability to work independently and remotely • Ability to use discretion with confidential and emotional work • Access to a computer with internet and Microsoft Suite • Familiarity with animal law, criminal law, or both is preferred
