📋 Description

• Own the transformation layer by designing, building, and maintaining scalable data models using dbt and SQL for financial reporting and operational metrics • Establish and enforce best practices for data modeling, development, testing, and monitoring • Collaborate with finance, operations, customer success, and marketing teams to understand requirements and deliver reliable data products • Create repeatable patterns for integrating data models with BI tools and reverse ETL processes • Ensure development quality through change management, source control, code reviews, and data monitoring • Work closely with Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and Business Users across Alpaca’s data platform

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in analytics engineering or data engineering, focused on transformation in ELT • Proven experience owning data products end-to-end and applying analytics and data engineering best practices • Ability to work with ambiguity, define requirements with stakeholders, and operate with minimal oversight • Experience improving data warehouse performance and ETL efficiency • Expert-level SQL and dbt skills • Proficiency in Python • Hands-on query optimization across OLTP and OLAP systems, such as Postgres and Iceberg • Proficiency with semantic-layer modeling, such as Cube or dbt Semantic Layer • Experience owning CI/CD workflows and establishing version-control and code-review standards, such as Git • Familiarity with cloud environments, including GCP or AWS • Nice to have: experience with Airbyte and Airflow • Nice to have: brokerage-operations domain experience or passion for financial markets and financial-data modeling
