• Join Avar Consulting, an AMDEX Corporation subsidiary and full-spectrum data solutions firm • Support US federal government clients across education, labor, veterans’ affairs, and other projects • Conduct technical quality reviews of research and evaluation products • Assess whether research and evaluation products meet established statistical standards, guidelines, and policies • Perform empirical social science research and complex statistical and economic analyses using large data sets • Evaluate and improve research, survey, evaluation, and analysis designs • Conduct web research • Produce relevant technical research products • Communicate findings and recommendations orally and in writing
• Strong knowledge of technical approaches used for research and analysis on labor and program evaluation • Minimum of five years of experience performing empirical social science research • Knowledge and understanding of US Department of Labor agencies and programs, as well as evaluation and research efforts, preferred • Prior experience facilitating joint projects between federal agencies preferred • Strong statistical and economic analysis skills • Experience performing complex statistical analysis using large data sets • Expert knowledge of evaluation, statistical, and sampling approaches and methodologies • Ability to identify and recommend improvements to evaluation and survey designs and analysis projects • Expert proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel • Expert proficiency with statistical software such as R, Python, STATA, and SAS • Ability to perform web research • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing • Familiarity with the Paperwork Reduction Act desired but not required • Advanced degree in an applied quantitative discipline such as statistics, computer science, criminology, economics, or another related social science field • Relevant technical research products demonstrating applied experience • Ph.D. preferred • Preferably at least one scholarly peer-reviewed paper in an academic journal • Must be a US citizen or permanent resident
