• Conduct impact litigation, including class actions and other affirmative lawsuits against immigration agencies • Appear as amicus curiae in cases before federal courts and administrative tribunals • File and litigate Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests • Engage in administrative advocacy • Issue practice advisories and other resources for immigration lawyers • Perform legal research • Draft research memos, pleadings, briefs, and practice advisories • Review and summarize documents • Cite-check legal pleadings • Participate in discussions about ongoing and developing litigation • Potentially assist with client calls and plaintiff screenings • Potentially write a blog post on an immigration law development for a nonlegal audience
• Qualified law student • Must be funded externally or receive academic credit for the internship • Strong research and writing skills • Demonstrated commitment to social justice and immigrant rights • Dynamic and self-directed • Prior immigration law or advocacy experience, coursework, or clinical experience preferred • Submit a resume, cover letter, and writing sample • Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply
