📋 Description

• Guide, encourage, and inform students about academic options for progressing through their programs • Help students identify and meet educational goals through email, phone, chat, and other remote channels • Build relationships with prospective, current, and returning students while representing the university • Initiate and respond to questions about academic advising, programs, policies, campus and form navigation, and student concerns • Conduct student outreach and provide advice and direction on next steps • Document all student interactions clearly • Review degree plan change requests and advise on credit impact, time to completion, planning, and recommended paths • Apply inquisitive, appreciative, developmental, and prescriptive advising strategies • Monitor student behavior trends and support targeted outreach initiatives and process changes • Maintain knowledge of and advise distinct student populations or programs • Encourage and guide students toward successful program completion • Meet service-level agreements and department service expectations • Review processes and policies and recommend improvements • Participate in professional development, department committees, task forces, university organizations, and industry organizations such as NACADA • Interact with other university departments on behalf of students • Perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• Conferred Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred • Effective interpersonal skills, including influencing, persuasion, elicitation, and listening • Understanding of student development theory • Excellent student and customer service skills • Ability to advise effectively in ambiguous and unstructured scenarios • Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines with minimal supervision • Rational and objective decision-making • Ability to navigate multiple systems and adjust quickly to ongoing technology changes • Optimism and positivity • Creativity • Critical thinking • Problem solving • Ability to adjust quickly to changes • One year of professional office experience, preferably in a collegiate or academic advising setting • Knowledge of undergraduate and graduate student development theory • Knowledge of theory and best practices in academic advising • Experience influencing, informing, and persuading students on complex academic matters is a plus • Experience working with students from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and academic backgrounds is desirable • Ability to work 9:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m. Monday–Thursday and 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Friday
