📋 Description

• Provide expert advice to alternative asset firm and family office clients • Conduct best-practice reviews and develop realistic, effective action plans • Break goals into actionable steps • Advise on vendor selection and oversight • Create and implement policies, procedures, and control measures • Evaluate client progress using KPIs and scoring matrices • Support special projects and other areas of need • Maintain financial records in collaboration with external accounting providers and the CFO • Prepare financial statements, shareholder reports, tax returns, and regulatory agency reports • Control and review payroll processing for accurate and timely transactions • Manage the month-end close process • Improve the efficiency, timeliness, and quality of financial reporting • Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable • Provide senior leadership with budget-versus-actual reporting, cash balances, liquidity forecasts, variances, trends, and deficiencies • Build pro forma financial models based on historical trends and analyses • Enhance accounting systems and control environments to protect fiscal integrity and minimize risk • Lead audit and tax processes with external auditors and tax accountants • Assist with quarterly and annual SEC and regulatory filings

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Business Administration, or a related field • 6+ years of prior work experience, specifically as a Controller for an Alternative Asset Firm or Family Office • 4+ years of proven experience in a financial or accounting capacity with an Alternative Asset Firm, Family Office, or Big 4 accounting firm • Extensive experience with cash and working capital management and forecasting • Strong technical accounting skills, GAAP accounting, and management reporting experience • Strong technical skills with Microsoft Word and Excel • Proficiency in accounting software or financial applications such as QuickBooks • In-depth understanding of financial instruments, investment types, vehicle structures, asset classes, tax regulations, and financial covenants • Highly organized, strong attention to detail, prioritization ability, and excellent management and supervisory skills • CPA designation or advanced degree such as an MBA is a plus
