📋 Description

• Assess the accuracy and completeness of inpatient case coding through retrospective and concurrent audits • Ensure compliance with coding guidelines and regulatory requirements • Provide feedback to coding team members regarding audit results • Respond to coding questions • Assist with training and onboarding new Inpatient Coders, including auditing • Maintain internal coding guidelines • Research, prepare, and disseminate information related to official coding guidance updates • Collaborate with Coding and CDI Quality Analyst teams on DRG issues and other operational activities • Participate in internal and external secondary coding reviews

🎯 Requirements

• Graduate of a medical coding program required, or two (2) years of Coding experience may be considered in lieu of the medical coding program in addition to the experience below • Three years of progressive acute care hospital inpatient coding experience, including experience coding MS-DRGs and APR-DRGs, required • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) required • Graduate of a Health Information Technology Program preferred • Five years or more of inpatient coding experience in an academic medical center preferred • Experience with coding quality audits and improvement projects preferred • Training experience preferred • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) preferred • Must be in an approved remote work state for UW Health to be eligible to work remotely
