• Provide support to assigned locations, including data centers, POPs, and physical site services • Coordinate with network teams and local vendors for installation, repair, and maintenance activities • Deploy physical-layer rack and stack configurations • Maintain quality standards at assigned data centers and remote POPs • Perform physical installation, repair, maintenance, and testing activities • Assist with card adds or replacements, software upgrades, and associated testing • Recommend process improvements affecting network asset quality and operational efficiency • Provide site survey support for OSP and ISP projects, large space and power projects, and equipment deployments • Perform site audits and reconcile data discrepancies with Network Surveillance and other groups • Support management of local construction vendors to ensure compliance with MOPs, standards, quality, and cleanliness • Coordinate with LECs and other technicians to facilitate installation, repair, and maintenance • Perform site surveys for network builds, augments, and decommissions • Assist with site access, equipment staging, and related tasks • Travel as required
• Associate's degree (A.A) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and 2 to 5 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience • Builds productive internal and external working relationships • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action • Knowledge of data center and POP infrastructure, including OSP, ISP, interfacility cabling, fiber and copper distribution, AC/DC power systems, environmental controls, and relay rack/cabinet/cage construction • Familiarity with installing and maintaining telecom/network equipment, including DWDMs, backbone and management routers, IP switches, and optical and digital infrastructure • Understanding of splicing and operating within a manhole, vault, or handhole environment • Knowledge of telecommunications testing equipment, including microscopes, source and power meters, and OTDRs; experience testing SONET and Ethernet bandwidths • Knowledge of telecommunications testing standards and procedures • Knowledge of state and local regulatory standards, procedures, and permitting requirements • Ability to work effectively with LEC and telecom service provider technicians, building landlords, electricians, construction operators, and non-technical end users • Ability to work independently, diagnose problems, and take appropriate action with minimal supervision • Experience with spreadsheets, workflow and project management applications, and administrative software applications • Understanding of how to use a Tier-1 ITSM platform • Ability to perform office-related tasks, move within an office environment, use a computer, and communicate effectively • Some positions may require occasional repetitive motion or movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
