📋 Description

• Address bioinformatics, scientific computing, and data analysis needs of NIAID Division of Intramural Research investigators and collaborators • Provide statistical design and experimental design consultation for high-throughput genome-scale technologies • Provide bioinformatics support for variant calling, gene expression, genome and transcriptome assembly, comparative genomics, proteomics, ChIP-seq, and ATAC-seq • Develop high-throughput and production pipelines • Provide programming and troubleshooting support for research data dissemination • Perform computational and statistical analysis of genomic and clinical research data • Collaborate with staff on scientific programming and experimental design • Contribute to and co-author peer-reviewed scientific publications • Help develop a scalable resource supporting next-generation sequencing bioinformatics, structural and computational biology, and machine-learning data support

🎯 Requirements

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field; master’s degree or doctorate preferred • Four or more years of experience in bioinformatics, including two or more years developing and maintaining production bioinformatics pipelines • Expert-level proficiency in two of: Python, R, C/C++, sh/bash • Experience building images using Docker, Podman, or Singularity/Apptainer • Expert-level proficiency in Snakemake, Nextflow, or CWL/WDL • Demonstrated expertise building technical and user documentation for tools, pipelines, and applications • Experience building pipelines on-premises using high-performance computing infrastructure • Strong skills in next-generation sequencing analysis, statistical modeling, scripting, and biological interpretation • Preferred: experience supporting HIV research; familiarity with HIV and infectious disease resources and host–pathogen study designs; cloud experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure; application development with Django, Flask, RShiny, Electron, Flutter, or React; laboratory experience
