📋 Description

• Generate content about complex policy topics in a neutral, clear, and concise manner • Research policy coverage areas and become a content expert • Create and edit articles on court cases, laws, executive orders, key terms, influencers, and scholarly work • Identify and curate arguments for and against proposed policy changes • Identify and curate proposed policy reforms • Track news events and breaking developments to keep coverage current • Read scholarly work and incorporate relevant findings into content • Develop compelling story features and strong headlines • Host and lead webinars and draft presentations • Contribute ideas to and draft recurring newsletters • Produce educational outreach opportunities, including Learning Journeys and Learning Expeditions • Proofread content effectively, efficiently, and consistently • Analyze court decisions and track legislation across all 50 states to identify policy trends • Participate in recurring team book clubs • Travel to and attend related events as needed • Interact professionally with donors, stakeholders, media, customers, and external partners • Use procedure checklists, templates, spreadsheets, Google Workspace, Slack, and Asana • Learn and apply Ballotpedia’s taxonomy of bias and Style Guide • Innovate to improve work processes and content quality

🎯 Requirements

• Full-time, 100% remote position • Knowledge of the United States political system • Personal interest in U.S. policy • Professional experience covering federal or state lawmaking is an added benefit • Familiarity with the administrative state, federal rulemaking process, and/or public assistance programs such as SNAP or Medicaid is preferred • Interest in or experience using AI tools to increase productivity • Ability to work collaboratively with staff from multiple departments • Comfort seeking and responding to feedback • Ability to identify and solve problems proactively • Ability to conduct efficient research and seek the best possible sources • Ability to use and master complex tools such as templates and spreadsheets • Computer with Internet access • Some familiarity with Google Workspace, Slack, and Asana is helpful • Résumé, cover letter, and neutral writing sample under five pages required for application • Current address included in résumé or cover letter • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.; employment authorization verified through E-Verify
