📋 Description

• Administer and maintain production and non-production PostgreSQL environments on Linux • Lead database physical design, query optimization, indexing, performance tuning, and troubleshooting • Implement PostgreSQL replication, backup and recovery, monitoring, and disaster-recovery capabilities • Support schema conversions, data migrations, performance validation, and cutover activities for the ASE-to-PostgreSQL migration • Evaluate PostgreSQL configuration parameters and recommend stability and performance improvements • Manage capacity planning, security controls, patching and upgrade strategy, and proactive database health assessments • Support the existing SAP ASE environment during the migration lifecycle • Troubleshoot ASE performance issues, analyze error logs, validate configuration parameters, support replication server processes, and assist with patching and upgrades • Document ASE environment characteristics for migration planning and knowledge transfer • Participate in decommissioning and transitioning ASE instances after migration milestones • Oversee daily ticket queue triage and assign work to DBAs • Provide mentorship and technical leadership to a small DBA team • Coordinate activities with customer project management and contract project managers • Participate in customer/project meetings, needs assessments, technical design reviews, and solution feasibility discussions • Provide database architectural guidance and promote modern concepts and best practices across the team

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years of database administration experience, including ASE and PostgreSQL • 4-year degree in an IT-related field or equivalent professional experience • Strong hands-on experience administering PostgreSQL, including installation, configuration, performance tuning, backup/recovery, replication, security, and monitoring • Demonstrated experience with SAP ASE technology, including ASE, Replication Server, performance tuning, patching, replication, and upgrade planning • Expertise in database architecture, including objects, file structures, tables, views, procedures, functions, triggers, sequences, indexes, and constraints • Experience with database architecture design concepts • Experience leading or managing a small DBA team • Strong SQL skills in SQL, PL/pgSQL, and T-SQL • Proficiency with shell scripting languages such as Bash or Korn • Ability to install and perform application/database upgrades • Ability to analyze PostgreSQL and ASE performance data • Working knowledge of programming tools and data migration techniques for schema conversion and ETL workflows • Ability to work independently, manage schedules, and handle multiple priorities across projects • Strong organizational and time-management skills • Excellent performance tuning capabilities across queries, memory, process scheduling, I/O, and system resource utilization • Understanding of database design and modeling for varying workload types • Experience working with vendors on troubleshooting, escalations, licensing, and procurement • Strong understanding of Linux OS features and their effects on PostgreSQL and ASE • 10+ years of scripting experience preferred • U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status is requested in the application
