📋 Description

• Support and administer ASE and PostgreSQL database platforms, including databases hosted and operated in AWS environments • Set up, configure, administer, tune, monitor, troubleshoot, and perform data manipulation and backups for ASE and PostgreSQL database infrastructure • Work with large amounts of rapidly moving data • Support PostgreSQL migration from SAP ASE to Amazon RDS PostgreSQL • Provide client support for test and production systems as needed • Maintain database performance by resolving production and application development problems • Work with major ASE and PostgreSQL Server components and their interrelationships with networking, storage, servers, operating systems, authentication, application code, and disaster recovery technology • Collaborate with fellow engineers and IT teams on tactical and strategic architecture plans and implementations • Identify and recommend changes to improve existing ASE/PostgreSQL servers and database configurations

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of experience with Sybase RDBMS technology stack, including ASE and REP • Experience with systems management tools and implementing new features and functionality • Experience with performance tuning, database and replication server upgrades, EBF/SR patches, and disaster recovery planning and testing • 3+ years of experience conducting general database administration tasks • Experience developing PostgreSQL Server database objects, database server implementations, database architecture and schema design, code deployments, backups, and DB authentication principals • Experience with system and query performance tuning • BS CS / EE / CE or related degree or professional experience working in PostgreSQL • Working knowledge of AWS cloud platform services and infrastructure • Experience supporting and administering database workloads in AWS environments • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts and Terraform • Python, T-SQL, or other scripting experience • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of professionals • Extensive knowledge of troubleshooting techniques using system logs, event logs, cluster logs, enhanced logging configurations, and system metadata catalogs • Knowledge of virtualization and experience with virtualized database environments • Must be a US Citizen • Preferred: experience supporting enterprise cloud migration initiatives and hybrid database environments • Preferred: experience establishing database governance, architecture standards, and engineering best practices • AWS, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or other database-related professional certifications are desirable
