📋 Description

• Serve as the lead legal partner for product, engineering, and technology teams • Provide forward-looking legal advice on software development, cloud computing, AI, GenAI/LLMs, and machine learning • Embed with product and engineering teams from ideation to launch • Ensure privacy-by-design and AI-safety-by-design principles are met • Lead and update policies on acceptable AI use, AI governance, data privacy, open-source licensing, and intellectual property • Monitor and interpret global technology laws and regulations, including the EU AI Act, algorithmic bias laws, GDPR, CCPA, and cybersecurity mandates • Identify legal and ethical risks in technology projects and develop mitigation strategies • Draft, review, and negotiate SaaS, PaaS, strategic partnership, and complex technology vendor agreements • Review agreements with AI model providers and platforms • Advise on intellectual property protection and enforcement, including AI-generated content and open-source software • Partner with IT, Security, Privacy, and Compliance teams on privacy and security standards • Advise senior leadership across IT, Security, Product Development, Engineering, Sales, and Business Development • Develop and deliver training on responsible AI, technology contracts, IP protection, and data privacy

🎯 Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school • Active membership in good standing with at least one state bar • 10+ years of relevant legal experience, with in-house tech experience strongly preferred • Deep focus on product counseling, regulatory compliance, and technology transactions • Experience advising on artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data privacy • Understanding of how LLMs work, how data is used to train them, and legal nuances of generative AI • Strong working knowledge of GDPR and CCPA • Strong grasp of emerging regulations for AI and digital services • Ability to translate complex legal and regulatory risks into practical business advice • Ability to operate autonomously, lead cross-functional initiatives, and influence executive decision-making • Prior experience building or scaling an AI Governance framework or AI review committee • Relevant certifications such as CIPP/US or CIPP/E are a plus • Background or undergraduate degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field
