Break Through Tech is an organization that expands access to technology and AI career pathways for undergraduate students by providing hands-on training, short-term paid micro-internships (Sprinternships™), a 9-week AI/ML program, and industry-connected work-based learning and mentorship. It partners with colleges and 300+ industry partners to prepare and place diverse students into tech roles, emphasizing workforce development, professional readiness, and equitable access to influential tech opportunities.

📋 Description

• Support and guide undergraduate teams through industry-sponsored machine learning projects during the AI Studio Fall semester. • Facilitate successful planning, execution, and tracking of team projects. • Help teams manage their project repository, project task board, README documentation, and associated workflows directly within GitHub. • Conduct regular asynchronous progress check-ins with teams between meetings. • Facilitate live virtual weekly team labs via Zoom. • Provide technical support and guidance to Fellows; design and deliver virtual mini-lessons on technical topics as needed. • Ensure equitable participation and active engagement by all team members throughout the project duration. • Actively monitor and participate in team collaboration tools including but not limited to Google Colab, GitHub, and Discord.

🎯 Requirements

• Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to support the success and well-being of undergraduate students from all lived experiences. • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members. • Strong technical project management experience in an industry setting. • Proficient understanding of ML concepts (LLMs, Neural networks, Generative AI, Image classification) sufficient to address technical questions and guide Fellows to appropriate resources. • Familiarity with how AI tools can be used as a resource for technical development tasks (e.g., Copilot, Claude Code). • Hands-on experience using common coding and development tools, including VS Code, Jupyter notebooks, and Google Colab. • Experience in teaching, coaching, or mentoring, or demonstrated ability to learn these skills. • Excellent communication and facilitation skills. • Ability to thrive in a virtual work environment.
