Break Through Tech is an organization that expands access to technology and AI career pathways for undergraduate students by providing hands-on training, short-term paid micro-internships (Sprinternships™), a 9-week AI/ML program, and industry-connected work-based learning and mentorship. It partners with colleges and 300+ industry partners to prepare and place diverse students into tech roles, emphasizing workforce development, professional readiness, and equitable access to influential tech opportunities.

📋 Description

• Partner with Break Through Tech program staff to deliver a 16-week AI-Powered Entrepreneurship program for undergraduate fellows • Coach 8–10 venture teams, approximately 40 fellows • Facilitate and design concept reviews for four Workshops and three Maker Days • Facilitate and support the culminating Flagship Event and evaluate team pitches from an angel investor’s perspective • Form venture teams around shared problem spaces using fellows’ Idea Board submissions • Create and monitor breakout rooms and observe team progress during live virtual events • Track attendance and survey completion • Mentor teams on customer discovery, value propositions, MVP scoping, business models, and pitch preparation • Help teams distinguish customer evidence from assumptions, opinions, and AI-generated conclusions • Support decisions to iterate, continue testing, pivot, or pursue further development • Encourage responsible and thoughtful use of AI tools • Provide guidance on commercialization, market strategy, startup funding, and investor readiness • Recommend resources such as accelerators, pitch competitions, and non-dilutive funding opportunities • Participate in weekly Community of Practice meetings • Review and grade team deliverables and Canvas checkpoint submissions using program rubrics • Identify struggling or under-prepared teams and assist with intervention and follow-up

🎯 Requirements

• Previous experience teaching, advising, mentoring, or coaching Lean Startup, customer discovery, Design Thinking, entrepreneurship, innovation management, or a comparable methodology • Working knowledge of customer discovery, hypothesis-driven experimentation, MVP development, value propositions, and business model development • Ability to coach multidisciplinary teams and provide constructive, specific feedback without taking ownership of the team’s venture • Comfortable working with early-stage ideas and uncertainty • Hands-on experience using generative AI tools such as ChatGPT or Claude for research, analysis, or product development • Commitment to inclusive and equitable working relationships • Experience evaluating and giving feedback on team work products • Prior teaching, tutoring, or mentoring experience • Excellent communication and facilitation skills • Ability to thrive in a virtual work environment • Availability for all Workshop, Maker Day, and Flagship Event dates • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is unavailable • Preferred: startup or early-stage venture experience; technology commercialization, product development, accelerator, incubator, or university entrepreneurship experience; startup financing experience; familiarity with AI-enabled products or AI-assisted prototyping tools; pitch competition judging experience
