Break Through Tech is an organization that expands access to technology and AI career pathways for undergraduate students by providing hands-on training, short-term paid micro-internships (Sprinternships™), a 9-week AI/ML program, and industry-connected work-based learning and mentorship. It partners with colleges and 300+ industry partners to prepare and place diverse students into tech roles, emphasizing workforce development, professional readiness, and equitable access to influential tech opportunities.

📋 Description

• Partner with Break Through Tech program staff to deliver the 16-week LLM Red Teaming program for up to 500 undergraduate fellows • Prepare and facilitate live virtual Workshops and Maker Days • Build supplementary slides and concept reviews from SME-developed course content • Review and test scheduled red teaming challenges and document completion processes • Create and monitor breakout rooms, enforce program requirements and ethical standards, and support fellow engagement • Track attendance and survey completion • Review weekly Canvas course content and provide technical mentorship on LLMs, red teaming, and jailbreaking • Respond to curriculum questions in Discord and share timely field resources • Reinforce ethics, responsible disclosure, and safety precautions • Provide written and oral feedback on red teaming attempts, primarily through Gray Swan Arena • Attend weekly Community of Practice meetings with Coaches and program staff • Grade Canvas assignments using rubrics and review knowledge checks • Identify struggling fellows and support interventions and follow-up

🎯 Requirements

• Demonstrated aptitude for LLM red teaming, assessed through a Break Through Tech exercise and relevant work sample • Experience using large language models and advanced prompt engineering techniques • Commitment to ethical, responsible red teaming practices • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills • Experience evaluating and providing constructive feedback on technical work • Strong organizational and time-management skills and ability to work independently in a remote environment • Experience planning and facilitating live events, workshops, or group discussions, ideally virtually and for undergraduate students • Commitment to inclusive and equitable working relationships with fellows from varied backgrounds • Must be based in the US and able to work from a US location for the role duration • Must be authorized to work in the US; visa sponsorship is unavailable • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in computer science, cybersecurity, computational linguistics, or related field, or equivalent practical experience (preferred) • Hands-on experience with sanctioned LLM red teaming challenges or competitions, including Gray Swan Arena, Lakera Agent Breaker, or HackAPrompt (preferred) • Professional background in AI security, trust and safety, or ethical red teaming (preferred) • Experience teaching, tutoring, TA-ing, or mentoring undergraduate students or early-career professionals (preferred) • Availability for approximately 15–20 hours per week from January 4 through May 20, 2027, plus approximately 10 hours of training • Availability to facilitate eight scheduled virtual events between January and May 2027
