• Manage Infection Prevention and Control activities under the guidance of the Manager of Infection Prevention • Coordinate and support implementation of a system-wide infection control and prevention program • Identify, prevent, and eliminate or reduce sources of infection • Implement and monitor processes to reduce hospital-associated infections • Ensure compliance with local, State, and Federal regulatory requirements • Apply epidemiologic principles and statistical methods, including risk stratification • Perform surveillance using NHSN criteria and investigate hospital-associated infections • Use computer-based programs for tracking, reporting, and disseminating surveillance information • Prepare statistical reports to identify and analyze infection trends • Investigate, document, and report infection control issues • Investigate infection outbreaks in consultation with healthcare and public health professionals • Participate in quality and performance improvement initiatives • Conduct environmental rounds and construction risk assessments • Provide infection prevention interventions to maintain patient, visitor, and associate safety • Provide expert knowledge and guidance in infection prevention and control and epidemiology • Collaborate with Employee Health on communicable disease exposures and follow-up • Educate healthcare providers, staff, patients, families, and the public on infection prevention measures • Serve as a leader, mentor, and role model for facility personnel and healthcare professionals • Collaborate in fiscal management through evaluation of infection prevention technology and products
• Bachelors degree in Nursing or healthcare related field (required) • Certification in Infection Control (CIC), awarded by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (CBIC) (required within 3 years) • 2 years experience in direct patient care or a related healthcare field (preferred) • Infection control/ prevention experience (preferred) • Knowledge of improvement science • Demonstrated ability/experience to lead and facilitate multi-disciplinary teams • Demonstrated experience in performance improvement • Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint • Excellent written and verbal communications skills • Strong analytical skills • In-depth knowledge of computer systems and various software programs • Ability to work independently and self-directed • Attention to detail • Critical thinking • Communication with all levels of professionals • Teamwork • Conflict resolution • Active listening • Relationship building
