📋 Description

• Evaluate commercial supermarket refrigeration systems, primarily parallel compression racks, for condition, capacity, and efficiency in response to remodel-related changes • Survey existing systems and collect system architecture information, model numbers, condition, and other pertinent details • Perform refrigeration load calculations • Arrange loads on appropriate compressor suction groups • Calculate compressor and condenser capacity and select new equipment when needed • Size related piping, pressure-regulating valves, and other components • Understand and specify alternate system types, including condensing units, distributed systems, and secondary pumped systems • Learn and apply new system types such as CO2 transcritical systems • Generate refrigeration designs compliant with applicable local and state codes, owner specifications, and design guidelines • Meet with project teams to discuss schedules, budgets, phasing, site issues, and design review issues • Review preliminary and final designs with other disciplines for function, clearances, and coordination • Maintain client contact • Perform project quality assurance in coordination with the technical manager or project engineer • Assign tasks to engineering staff and drafting technicians to execute projects efficiently • Provide training to EITs and mechanical/refrigeration designers • Review, approve, and take ownership of team members’ design work when necessary • Set high standards and maintain professional integrity while serving company and client interests • Perform additional duties as required

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minimum 5 years of experience in refrigeration design • Professional Engineer license in good standing (preferred), or EIT pursuing PE • Alternatively, associate degree with minimum 10 years’ experience in refrigeration design and ability to show applicability of the experience to the job description • Excellent knowledge of discipline-specific codes and other building codes • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Good leadership skills • Ability to meet fast-paced deadlines • Active listening and critical thinking • Proficient in REVIT and AutoCAD • Researching and writing reports/opinions • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools • Excellent time management • Confident judgment and decision-making • Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods • Ability to handle stressful situations, multitask, and work under time constraints • Ability to work long hours when required • Ability to work in a normal office environment and occasionally outside a normal office • Ability to work overtime as needed
