📋 Description

• Manage medical and surgical ICU patients while practicing at the top of the license. • Obtain medical histories and perform physical examinations. • Document findings and prepare timely plans of care, including ordering medications and appropriate tests/procedures. • Assess, diagnose, and determine or alter treatment and management plans based on age, acuity, and clinical condition. • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic studies and prescribe pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions and therapies. • Manage conditions using clinical indications, evidence-based care, cost effectiveness, and risk/benefit assessment. • Provide health promotion, disease prevention, disease management counseling, and patient/family education. • Manage patients within scope of practice as part of an interdisciplinary team; consult or refer to physicians and other healthcare team members as appropriate. • Escalate patients’ need for emergent or specialized care when necessary. • Maintain accurate, complete, concise, and timely electronic medical record documentation. • Submit professional services consistent with compliant coding and billing practices. • Facilitate coordinated care and communication among healthcare team members and health/community agencies. • Perform office or hospital procedures in accordance with specialty practice, competency, and granted privileges. • Participate in quality, safety, peer review, performance activities, meetings, committees, and workgroups. • Participate in education and onboarding of new team members, students, and healthcare professionals. • Maintain and develop clinical and professional skills. • Maintain productivity, access, face-to-face time, and quality metrics for safe and timely patient care. • Work tele-critical care from home using two-way audio-video communication, bedside waveform monitors, and an integrated EMR. • Provide coverage for Wisconsin units within a 24/7 shift-based virtual critical care program serving 18 facilities across Illinois and Wisconsin. • Work 5-hour and 8-hour shifts, including evenings, overnight coverage, weekends, and holidays; shifts are rotated equally among staff. • Attend and contribute to practice meetings, policy/procedure development, and quality improvement initiatives.

🎯 Requirements

• Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) must be Acute Care Board Certified. • Must be a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with a minimum of three years of recent critical care experience practicing as an NP or PA. • Applicants must be actively working in a critical care setting. • Will require WI & IL licensure. • Active RN, and APRN/APRN-FPA/APNP or other APRN license(s) in state(s) of practice. • Active national board certification in area of clinical practice and populations served. • Active DEA registration prior to hire. • If Illinois practice: active Illinois Controlled Substance License prior to hire. • Active BLS and/or ACLS, PALS, NRP as required by clinical practice prior to or within 6 months of hire. • Master’s Degree in Nursing. • Demonstrated high level of clinical proficiency and excellent decision-making skills. • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as an effective member of a health care team. • Demonstrated ability to adapt to evolving technology and proficiency with the electronic medical record. • Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively collaborate and establish/build relationships with others. • Proven organizational skills and ability to prioritize effectively. • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and twist continuously throughout the workday. • Must have functional speech, vision, touch, and hearing. • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs over the head, carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance, and operate all equipment necessary to perform the job.
