• Assess and monitor patients' and clients' nutritional status and adjust nutritional care using current scientific literature • Provide medical nutrition therapy and counseling, including assessment, education, development, monitoring, and implementation • Complete consults and referrals • Coordinate nutrition as part of total patient/client therapy with physicians, nurses, and other professionals • Complete nutritional care plans, assessments, consultations, nutrient intake analyses, and patient/client education documentation • Provide and assess the effectiveness of patient/client and family education • Develop, evaluate, and use appropriate educational materials • Identify learning needs and evaluate and document learner responses to teaching • Provide or develop periodic in-services for team members and other disciplines • Disseminate nutrition research results and findings to medical team members, nursing, pharmacy, patients, and the public • Communicate with multidisciplinary departments regarding patient/client care and issues • Provide performance feedback on personnel when requested or applicable • Participate in orientation, training, and mentoring of team members and dietetic interns under manager guidance
• Must live in one of the following states: Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Michigan, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Vermont, or Washington • Bachelor's degree if RD before 1/1/2024 required • Master's degree if RD on or after 1/1/2024 required • RD/LDN registry eligible or Registered Dietitian (Commission on Dietetic Registration) required • Licensed by the applicable state Board of Dietetics and Nutrition required • If RD/LDN registry eligible, must become RD/LDN registered within 4 months of hire • Specialty certification such as CDCES, CNSC, or AND Certifications may be required, depending on department requirements • Knowledge of principles of growth and development and competency appropriate to the ages, culture, developmental stages, and special needs of the population served • Ability to give and receive verbal communications continuously • Ability to read written communications continuously in hard copy and on a computer screen • Ability to compose written communications frequently • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing 25 pounds or less occasionally • Ability to perform motor skills such as reaching out/up • Frequent walking, standing, and sitting; infrequent squatting, twisting, and bending
