• Provide patient care within the Medical Assistant scope of practice • Perform rooming and visit tasks, including vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings • Assist providers with or perform ordered procedures • Perform venipuncture, specimen collection, labeling, packing, lab requisitions, and results tracking • Conduct point-of-care testing and CLIA-approved waived laboratory tests according to orders and standards • Administer medications and vaccines safely • Process medication refills, insurance authorizations, safety and regulatory logs, patient messages, supply orders, appointments, and referrals • Communicate effectively, collaborate with teammates, and escalate issues appropriately • Maintain a clean work environment and ensure equipment and supplies are operational and stocked • Assist with teammate training and onboarding • Serve as a role champion or committee member when assigned • Provide age-appropriate care based on patient status and developmental needs • Operate all equipment necessary for the role and perform other related duties
• High School Diploma or GED required • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program, or qualifying structured military clinical training/EMT; some divisions accept 2 years of verifiable full-time Medical Assistant experience within the last 5 years in lieu of the program • Two years of experience in a clinical practice setting as a Medical Assistant • Current or required American Heart Association BLS certification, depending on division; some divisions require obtaining it within 45 days • CMA or RMA certification/registration through an accepted national organization • Successful completion of Atrium Health’s competency assessment where applicable • Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills within the Medical Assistant scope of practice • Proficient computer skills, including keyboarding, Windows navigation, email, and exposure to electronic medical records • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Customer service skills supporting a positive patient experience • Ability to lift 35 pounds without assistance • Functional speech, vision, hearing, touch, and fine-hand manipulation skills • Ability to perform required standing, walking, lifting, squatting, bending, twisting, crawling, kneeling, climbing, and reaching • Ability to work around mechanical, electrical, chemical, blood, and body-fluid hazards using protective equipment
