• Perform accurate and timely CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, HCPCS, and modifier coding • Apply coding knowledge and official guidelines to services provided at CSMC and Cedars-Sinai affiliates • Assign applicable modifiers to optimize reimbursement and data quality • Maintain familiarity with HCFA coding regulations, Medicare rules, same-day visits and procedures, consultations versus referrals, and surgeries • Implement coding guidelines for multi-specialty and complex surgical practices • Attend seminars and workshops for updates on coding rules and regulations • Escalate issues to the Coding Supervisor and Manager • Meet productivity and quality standards set by the Coding Manager • Monitor NCD, LCD, and CMS coding trends • Identify coding trends and issues and present solutions • Maintain confidentiality of patient care and business matters • Follow coding and compliance department policies and procedures
• Certified Procedural Coder (CPC) required • High school diploma or GED required • Completion of ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding courses from an accredited coding program preferred • Minimum of 3 years of coding experience within a multi-specialty medical group or physician practice preferred • Familiarity with ICD-10-CM, CPT-4 coding, and payment methodologies • Working knowledge of California and national reporting requirements • Certified Evaluation and Management Coder (CEMC) is a plus • Knowledge of CSMC and official coding guidelines, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and pathological basis of disease
