📋 Description

• Oversee daily operations of the Carle Health Clinical Documentation Integrity program • Manage, hire, train, and evaluate the CDI team • Conduct professional development plans • Ensure productivity, accuracy, quality, timeliness, and compliance standards are met • Monitor and optimize case mix index, mortality, and severity of illness metrics • Collect, analyze, and present CDI, provider, query, and documentation data • Develop and execute CDI process improvement projects • Collaborate with HIM physician advisors, medical staff leaders, vendors, coding leadership, and Revenue Cycle leaders • Develop and implement education for providers, medical staff, coders, CDI staff, and other employees • Review and develop policies and procedures supporting compliant CDI workflows • Develop reports and communicate CDI metrics to internal and external teams • Work with software vendors and external consulting groups • Ensure software efficacy, data integrity, and vendor contractual compliance • Participate in and lead multidisciplinary teams developing Clinical Documentation Improvement best practices • Provide feedback on exceptional and substandard CDI performance • Present CDI metrics at department and external meetings • Evaluate ongoing requirements for coding and DRG assignment yearly with coding managers • Assist the HIM Director with CDI department budgeting

🎯 Requirements

• RHIA or CCS certification, or Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) within 6 months if licensed in another state • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Health Information Administration • 3 years of healthcare management experience • 3 years of inpatient coding and/or clinical documentation experience • Well versed in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel • Well versed in Epic • Up to date on all coding guidelines • Familiar with Medicare coding guidelines and rules • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
