Child Trends is a nonprofit research organization that studies and informs policy and practice to improve the well‑being of children and families. It conducts applied research, data analysis, and evaluation on topics including early childhood development, child welfare and foster care, family health, poverty, and education, and provides technical assistance, capacity building, and strategic communications to government agencies and other stakeholders.

📋 Description

• Deepen Child Trends’ education research and evaluation efforts • Work closely with senior staff to develop and cultivate applied research and evaluation projects • Lead and/or support grant and contract proposal development • Serve as a subject matter expert and quality reviewer across projects and research products • Develop proposals, concept papers, and scopes of work with the Program Area Director for Education and senior education team members • Support the start-up of newly funded projects • Serve as a project team member where available • Mentor less experienced staff • Provide quality assurance for research products • Support proposal development efforts • Develop thought leadership pieces with the Program Area Director for Education • Review outside affiliations for potential conflicts of interest

🎯 Requirements

• Doctoral degree in a related discipline, such as Education, Public Policy, Economics, or Sociology • Established track record of winning education research and evaluation funding • Experience conducting collaborative research with policymakers and practitioners • Experience producing relevant and rigorous research products • Experience as a Principal Investigator or Task Lead on an IES-funded research project (preferred) • What Works Clearinghouse (WWC) certification in Group Design (preferred) • Candidates with current academic appointments or full-time organizational affiliations must seek institutional or organizational approval • Must successfully complete a background investigation, including criminal history • Resume/CV, cover letter, brief writing sample, and three professional references required
