📋 Description
• Facilitate organ recovery and transplant activities • Take organ offers, review donors, contact facilities, examine labs, and identify high-risk behaviors • Coordinate admission after an organ offer is approved • Comply with OPTN/UNOS post-transplant documentation and regulatory requirements • Serve as contact for potential transplant offers from local, regional, and national organ procurement organizations • Organize procurement teams and dispatch them to donor sites within required time frames • Coordinate air or ground transportation of organs • Support organ recovery and preservation and assist with training organ preservation employees • Orient residents and fellows to renal procurement, renal allocation, and regulatory requirements • Develop and present professional education programs as needed • Obtain, analyze, and report data on potential donors and accepted transplant organs • Abstract data and enter it into the transplant database
🎯 Requirements
• Degree or diploma from an accredited school of Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, or Paramedics • Certified Procurement Transplant Coordinator (CPTC) certification by the American Board for Transplant Certification within one year of hire • One year of experience as an Organ Procurement Coordinator • Clinical experience in critical care nursing, organ procurement, or transplant • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN), Respiratory Therapist, or Emergency Medical Technician–Paramedic • Ability to be available 24 hours a day when assigned • Ability to work variable 12-hour shifts Sunday through Saturday, 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m. or 7:30 p.m.–7:00 a.m. • Compliance with standard precautions and required personal protective equipment • Compliance with annual influenza vaccination program or approved exemption • Successful controlled-substance testing after an employment offer • Prior donor procurement experience preferred
