• Model Compassus values and promote the Compassus philosophy using the 6 Pillars of Success • Uphold the Code of Ethical Conduct and promote positive working relationships across departments and with external stakeholders • Obtain and track insurance verification and authorization/re-authorization for home health care services • Complete insurance verification for new and existing patients and follow up for authorization • Contact insurance carriers to obtain benefit coverage, policy limitations, authorization/notification, and pre-certifications • Request authorization from insurance company case managers for specific services and parameters of care • Ensure insurance information is complete and accurate • Review insurance verification and complete authorization processes within established time frames • Maintain understanding of the revenue cycle, including insurance requirements, billing, and correspondence • Independently resolve insurance and revenue-cycle issues • Support team efforts related to authorization and verification • Communicate effectively with team members and health care professionals while maintaining confidentiality • Perform other duties as assigned
• High school diploma or GED required • One or more years of insurance authorization experience preferred • Prior experience in the home health care insurance industry preferred • Utilization management experience and pre-certification helpful • Customer service experience desired • Ability to perform mathematical calculations involving whole numbers, fractions, decimals, rates, ratios, and percentages • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English • Knowledge of insurance policies for home care authorizations • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with branch staff, billing and collections, and insurance representatives • Ability to work independently and multitask • Knowledge of medical terminology • Strong negotiation and conflict management skills • Computer literacy and ability to learn new software programs • Ability to use basic office equipment • Ability to stand and walk regularly and perform manual dexterity tasks • Ability to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds • Required visual acuity including close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and adjusting focus
