• Perform detailed reviews of construction pay applications according to invoice review procedures, approval workflows, and exception-handling protocols • Interpret and apply construction contract provisions related to payment, reimbursement, and allowable costs • Verify invoices and pay applications are supported by contractual authorizations, including executed contracts, amendments, change orders, and purchase orders • Confirm billed amounts align with approved scope, contract terms, negotiated rates, and authorized budgets • Monitor and validate approval status for contracts, amendments, and change orders • Review invoices across multiple vendors, contracts, and workstreams in high-volume, multi-project environments • Identify non-compliance issues, quantify cost impacts, and document findings • Communicate observations, findings, and corrective actions to clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders • Match invoices to purchase orders, schedules of values, and supporting documentation • Maintain organized work papers supporting procedures, findings, reviewed amounts, and payment recommendations • Develop, manipulate, and analyze spreadsheets for invoice reviews, reconciliations, and tracking • Maintain invoice tracking logs and status reports for program-level reporting and payment workflows • Build relationships with clients, construction managers, contractors, vendors, and project owners • Advise project owners on contract requirements, invoice findings, cost trends, and recurring risks • Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to junior auditors, project team members, and project owners • Support development and implementation of invoice review procedures, internal controls, and best practices • Support consistent application of invoice review tools, templates, and procedures across the program • Work independently using professional judgment and collaborate with project teams to maintain consistent review approaches and program controls
• Travel within US required 25-50% • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience reviewing and/or processing construction invoices or payment applications • Certification Construction Auditor or CPA preferred • Construction contract compliance experience • Previous knowledge of the construction industry • Experience with all construction project delivery methods • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and inconsistencies • Strong analytical skills and ability to evaluate complex cost and contract information • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly document and explain findings • Strong professional customer service skills and ability to work effectively with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders
