📋 Description

• Demonstrate proficiency in coding one outpatient service type to support timely billing and revenue cycle goals • Use ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, HCPCS, CPT and other coding references • Address NCCI, OCE, LCD and other coding edits • Examine complete medical records to determine principal and secondary diagnoses, procedures and complications • Sequence diagnoses and procedures accurately and assign ICD-10 and CPT codes • Perform charge reconciliation to ensure accurate posting, compliance and reimbursement • Maintain productivity and a 95% accuracy level • Hold accounts when additional information is required • Contact CDI, leadership and medical staff as needed • Review coding literature and stay current on coding guidelines • Share coding information with colleagues • Complete assignments and special projects as directed by management • Work as a team member to meet department goals

🎯 Requirements

• 0-2 years experience in outpatient Coding • High School or GED Required • Vocational / Technical School Preferred • Health Information Management / Coding / Billing Preferred • Credential in good standing with AHIMA or AAPC • New graduate, candidate close to graduation, candidate eligible for certification • Employees hired after 01/01/2021 must obtain an RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, CPC, CIC, COC, or specialty credential accredited by AHIMA or AAPC within one year of hire • Ability to communicate with patients, visitors and coworkers • Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology • Competency using computer applications, hospital information systems, encoder and Microsoft Office applications
