• Work with engineering and design teams to produce and/or review overhead and underground distribution design packages • Prepare construction drawings, materials inventory, voltage drop calculations, environmental/FAA/permitting releases, easements, fielding photos and notes, distribution planning coordination requests, and GIS maps • Apply overhead and underground electric utility design and construction standards, applicable codes, and industry practices • Review design documents and drawings for accuracy and completeness • Address discrepancies and issues identified during design reviews • Provide comments and justifications for design deficiencies • Review revised designs for incorporation of comments • Identify trends or new issues and communicate them to management with potential solutions • Maintain compliance with company and client standards and procedures • Provide technical support to junior designers • Contribute to department and company goals • Participate in special projects or tasks as required
• High School Diploma/GED Equivalent required • Designer I: 1-3+ years of experience in electric utility design within new business and/or system hardening required • Designer II: 3-5+ years of experience in electrical utility design • Experience with design and analysis for overhead and underground projects required • Proficiency in calculating voltage drop and flicker required • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations • Proficiency using O-Calc and AutoCAD design software required • Proficiency using the Microsoft Office Suite • Designer II: Experience using SAP software preferred • Effective/strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Ability to provide technical support to junior designers preferred for Designer I; experience providing technical support required for Designer II • Strong/excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.A. on a full-time basis without sponsorship • Ability to pass a pre-authorized physical, drug screening, and background check • Up to 20% travel within California
