📋 Description

• Shape the technical direction of distributed messaging systems in Go • Make high-level architectural decisions for mission-critical services balancing scale, cost, and reliability • Solve ambiguous, high-stakes problems across squads and functions • Drive decisions when the right answer is not obvious • Build consensus across teams on contested technical questions • Communicate technical tradeoffs to senior leadership • Set quality and design standards • Mentor senior engineers • Create reusable frameworks and documentation • Drive engineering process and tooling improvements across multiple squads • Interview candidates and calibrate against the career ladder • Use AI agents for multi-file changes by scoping work, writing prompts, and verifying output

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years building scalable, distributed systems in Go or similar statically typed languages, including several years as an architecture resource • Depth across multiple systems or domains • Track record of designing for production reality and quantifying throughput, cost, and reliability tradeoffs • Experience designing observability and recovery, including metrics, alerting, rollback, backpressure, and checkpointing • Comfort with cloud-native environments, AWS, GCP, relational databases, and MySQL • Understanding of performance tradeoffs • Evidence of improving other engineers through mentorship, technical writing, design review, and durable standards • Bias for action and judgment about which decisions warrant slowing down • Successful completion of background check and employment verifications
