📋 Description

• Lead Aetna’s new Oncology Care Model providing specialized care pathways throughout members’ oncology treatment • Run overall clinical governance • Review adverse determinations and provide Physician to Physician reviews • Consult with the team on complex medical necessity decisioning • Support Oncology Care Model team members including a Nurse Practitioner, Nurse, Pharmacist, Behavioral Health Specialist, and Oncology Companion • Develop the strategy and vision of oncology programs • Provide clinical oversight and guidance in planning, coordinating, and providing oncology services • Review and approve treatment plans, evaluate clinical outcomes, and monitor oncology provider performance • Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance oncology services • Ensure clinical compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices • Collaborate with executives and interdisciplinary leaders on innovative approaches for oncology patients • Lead cross-functional meetings, committees, and initiatives to coordinate care and integrate oncology services • Develop relationships with healthcare organizations, community agencies, and stakeholders • Administer medical policy • Control systems for development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical and medical programs • Expand medical management programs to address member needs across the continuum of care • Implement quality assurance goals and objectives • Advise on organizational standards for medical management programs • Develop relationships with network provider and facility leaders • Direct predetermination and claim determination review processes • Formulate clinical, coding, and reimbursement policies • Ensure timely and consistent responses to members and providers • Manage team performance through regular feedback and formal performance reviews • Travel for team meetings and client-facing meetings 1–2 times per quarter

🎯 Requirements

• Medical Doctor in good standing with no restrictions required • Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state in which the candidate is located • Up to date in Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements for board certification(s) and licensure • ABIM Certification in Medical Oncology or AOBIM Oncology Subspecialty Certification • At least five years post fellowship Oncology experience • Overnight travel up to 20% • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine • Preferred: 10 plus years of post fellowship Oncology experience • Preferred: Prior utilization management experience • Preferred: Problem solving and decision-making skills • Preferred: Multi-tasking abilities and ability to handle competing deadlines • Preferred: Communication skills used to lead a team • Preferred: Planning, delivering, and supporting skills • Preferred: Ability to consider relative costs and benefits of potential actions • Preferred: Ability to function in clinical settings with diverse cultural dynamics • Preferred: Knowledge of phases of care transitions and patient resources • Preferred: Digital literacy skills • Preferred: Ability to handle sensitive information ethically and responsibly
