📋 Description

• Perform duties as a Practitioner and Consultant in Psychiatry for the Defense Health Agency Enterprise Tele-Behavioral Health Clinical Services contract • Provide routine outpatient treatment via virtual platforms to low- and moderate-acuity patients • Make recommendations on major diagnostic and treatment plans • Provide continuing follow-up care for chronic outpatients with acute disorders and complications • Provide psychiatric care for triage patients with acute illnesses • Establish evaluation techniques and develop treatment and rehabilitation plans • Examine patients, evaluate laboratory and clinical findings, prescribe treatment, or refer patients to specialty clinics • Collaborate with physicians, psychologists, advanced practical nurses, social workers, military liaisons, and commanders • Direct quality assurance within the area of responsibility • Recommend hospitalization, determine service-member fitness for duty, and complete MEB, TDRL, psychological autopsy, sanity board, command consultation, and other administrative evaluations • Identify treatment needs and arrange safe therapeutic outcomes • Explain TRICARE requirements and benefits to TRICARE/DoD beneficiaries • Prepare and maintain convenience files and outpatient and inpatient medical records • Prepare case summaries and correspondence • Attend required staff meetings for case discussion, continuing education, quality improvement, and safety • Update patient charts within 72 business hours after appointments; update high-visibility or higher-acuity patient documentation by close of business • Follow SOP duty limitations and weapons access assessments • Follow DHA provider scheduling requirements based on skill type

🎯 Requirements

• Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree • Successfully completed an internship, residency in Psychiatry and/or Psychiatry Fellowship in an accredited United States Psychiatry Training program approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education • Two years of experience providing Psychiatry and evidence-based treatments using virtual platforms; candidates with less than two years of virtual-platform experience will be considered • Current board certification from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or the American Osteopathic Board of Psychiatry and Neurology • Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Psychiatrist • Must fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges • Must obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross • Knowledge and experience treating patients through virtual platforms, ideally with the military population • Understanding of TRICARE requirements and benefits • Ability to follow applicable regulations, service and hospital SOPs, Government and professional clinical standards, and accepted clinical protocols
