📋 Description

• Develop, implement, and optimize novel quantum algorithms, applications, and end-to-end workflows in computational chemistry, optimization, machine learning, and related areas • Work with customers and partners to define and solve real-world problems using IonQ trapped-ion quantum computers • Discover innovative solutions, rigorously benchmark performance, and publish results in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and conferences • Support an initiative delivering new scientific discoveries and innovation, helping shape team culture • Support customer engagements and technical conference participation through 10% domestic and international travel

🎯 Requirements

• 6+ years of professional experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience • Expertise in Python and/or C++ • Experience with Qiskit or similar quantum SDKs • Hands-on expertise developing or optimizing quantum algorithms in computational chemistry, optimization, machine learning, or related areas • Track record of innovative quantum solutions demonstrated through peer-reviewed manuscripts, invited talks, open-source repositories, licenses, publications, and/or patents • Strong foundation in key quantum computing concepts • Ability to articulate deeply technical ideas to scientists, engineers, business leaders, and community stakeholders • Experience working on teams that find, define, and solve real-world problems • Strong collaboration skills and clear technical communication • Ph.D. in computer science, mathematics, engineering, physics, or a closely related field is listed as a great-fit qualification • Experience with customer-facing or partner-facing technical engagements • Experience with variational quantum algorithms and hybrid quantum-classical workloads across CPUs, GPUs, and QPUs • Experience developing hybrid quantum algorithms for NISQ-era systems and early fault-tolerant quantum computers • Experience with quantum algorithm resource estimation, performance benchmarking, and scaling analysis • Proven success working with customers to define and deliver solutions • Employment contingent on meeting applicable U.S. export-control and government-contract requirements, including qualifying as a U.S. Person or obtaining necessary authorization/license where applicable
