📋 Description

• Assess lawsuits, demand letters, customer complaints, and other actual or potential legal threats by gathering facts, analyzing exposure, and developing response strategies • Draft and review court filings with outside counsel and help guide litigation strategy from initial assessment through resolution • Negotiate directly with opposing counsel to resolve disputes and legal threats when appropriate • Partner with teams across the organization to identify litigation risks and develop strategies to address potential exposure • Represent the company in small claims court as needed • Investigate and respond to inquiries from regulators and Attorneys General offices related to customer complaints • Provide practical, timely legal guidance on emerging business issues and help internal partners understand and evaluate potential legal exposure

🎯 Requirements

• At least 5 years of relevant litigation experience at a law firm; in-house experience is a plus • Juris Doctor Degree from an American Bar Association-accredited law school with strong academic credentials • Active membership in good standing with the Massachusetts Bar or eligibility for admission as in-house counsel in Massachusetts • Practical, business-minded approach to evaluating legal issues, managing risk, and developing solutions • Strong organizational skills and ability to independently manage multiple priorities while collaborating effectively as part of a team • Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with internal partners and influence stakeholders through sound legal judgment and clear, actionable guidance • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and analytical skills • Strong attention to detail and ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly • May be required to obtain a gaming license issued by the appropriate state agency as a condition of employment
