• Review medical records and assign appropriate ICD and CPT codes • Code all assigned outpatient record types daily • Assist with audits as needed • Monitor assigned charge review work queue • Code records in a timely manner • Maintain coding performance in accordance with department accuracy targets and productivity requirements for each record type • Assist billing staff with coding questions to help with denials • Respond to coding requests from internal and external customers, including business offices and physician offices • Request needed information from physicians • Attend educational programs and hospital and departmental staff meetings • Perform other duties as required by the CBO Coding Manager and/or Director • Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, confidentiality, ethics, and corporate compliance guidelines
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience • 3 -5 years’ physician coding experience preferred • Pediatric multi-specialty coding experienced preferred • Certified as any of the following: CCS, CCS-P, CPC, AAPC specialty coding certifications, RCC Radiology coding certification • Must maintain continuing education hours to maintain certification • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily • Must maintain utmost level of confidentiality • Adherence to hospital policies and procedures • Ethical business practices and adherence to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines
