• Serve as the subject matter expert for lithium battery shipping regulations, including UN3480, UN3481, UN3090, and UN3091 • Prepare and validate Dangerous Goods documentation, including Shipper’s Declarations, IMO Dangerous Goods Declarations, and Bills of Lading • Monitor global regulatory changes involving IATA, IMDG, and DOT and update internal Standard Work Instructions • Ensure compliance with IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, including State and Operator variations, State of Charge limits, and aircraft restrictions • Manage ocean shipments under IMDG Code requirements, including segregation, container marking, and placarding • Oversee domestic ground transport under 49 CFR / DOT requirements, including Excepted and Fully Regulated shipments and driver hazmat credentials • Design and maintain specialized lithium battery storage zones in compliance with fire codes and insurance requirements • Implement segregation protocols for lithium-ion and lithium-metal cells • Establish damaged, defective, or recalled battery handling areas and thermal runaway emergency response protocols • Audit warehouse racking, labeling, and packaging integrity • Develop and deliver Dangerous Goods awareness training for warehouse staff • Audit packing lines for correct UN-specification packaging and cushioning materials • Travel as needed, approximately 25–30%
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Business, or a related field, or a minimum of 5 years’ experience in supply chain management focused on dangerous goods materials • Minimum of 5 years in a logistics or warehouse environment focused on high-density lithium battery storage and distribution • Current IATA DGR Certification for transport of Dangerous Goods by Air (Category 1 or 6) • Valid IMDG Code Certification for transport of Dangerous Goods by Sea • Deep understanding of Title 49 CFR / DOT Hazmat requirements for domestic U.S. transport • Familiarity with UN 38.3 Testing Summaries • Ability to interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS) • Experience with lithium battery safety systems, such as specialized fire suppression and thermal monitoring • Background in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) management • Proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) with DG integration • Proficiency in customs management software and Microsoft Office Suite • Effective auditing practices and strong communication skills • Good mathematical skills • Must wear composite-toed boots and hearing protection • Ability to travel by car or plane • High frequency of computer keyboarding and viewing a computer monitor
