📋 Description

• Drive product and business impact by improving DuckDuckGo’s search engine ranking and results • Improve first-phase ranking quality and precision without sacrificing latency • Develop lexical-matching and document-authority signals • Expand search evaluations to measure relevancy readiness and surface ranking blindspots • Investigate LLMs for feature generation and ranking • Surface actionable insights from sparse, privacy-protected data • Lead high-complexity data science projects from scoping through production • Advise others on complex data science work • Collaborate with product teams and contribute to overall team throughput

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in Data Science • 2+ years at Staff, Principal, or Director level • Track record of leading high-complexity projects from scoping to production with minimal direction • Ability to advise others on complex data science work • Ability to develop strategies for ambiguous, complex data science problems and turn them into well-defined projects • Hands-on experience deploying ML in production • Experience developing NLP solutions • Experience with AI-assisted development • Production-grade coding skills in Python or a comparable high-level language • Advanced SQL and query optimization skills • Effective collaboration with product teams • Preferred: experience running search-specific projects involving ranking, retrieval, or indexing from scoping to production • Preferred: experience with large-scale search infrastructure such as Vespa, Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, or Solr • Must attend meetings on camera via video conferencing • Must pass a background check as a condition of joining the team
