• Conduct archaeological survey, excavation, and construction monitoring • Communicate on site with construction and Native American personnel during monitoring • Maintain daily logs documenting construction activities, communication, and future plans • Communicate effectively with crew leaders during survey work • Perform scientific photography, measurement, artifact identification, and resource recordation • Identify buried resources and document them effectively during excavation • Work collaboratively with archaeological field teams • Travel to project locations for consecutive days • Perform outdoor fieldwork in uneven terrain, extreme weather, excessive noise, and around moving vehicles and equipment
• Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology or Anthropology • Completed an accredited field school certification • Previous archaeological survey experience within Arizona • Experience recording a variety of site and isolate types in the region • Ability to safely operate a 4wd vehicle • Physical ability to carry equipment and supplies up to 40 lbs. and walk or hike for long hours during fieldwork • Willingness to travel to a project location for several consecutive days • Valid driver’s license • Active personal automobile liability insurance by first day of employment • Must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check • Preferred: Previous archaeological survey experience in California, the Desert West, the Pacific Northwest and/or the Mid-Atlantic • Preferred: Experience with pedestrian survey, testing/evaluation, and monitoring • Preferred: Understanding and willingness to safely accommodate difficult weather and environmental conditions • Preferred: Ability to operate GPS equipment, cameras, and tablets • Preferred: Knowledge of and experience using ESRI Collector and/or Field Maps
