• Investigate fire events to determine origin, cause, and responsibility according to client or assigned legal counsel instructions • Accept assignments for investigations of losses or claims and pursue them according to assignment needs • Determine the origin and cause of losses/claims and identify potential third-party responsibility for subrogation • Maintain required reporting commitments to clients using EFI standard procedures • Promote and market EFI services within the insurance industry and assigned territory • Liaise between insurance industry and law enforcement/fire service personnel • Investigate losses/claims involving illegal, fraudulent, or subrogation aspects • Identify and interview witnesses and involved persons to gather relevant information and evidence • Inspect public records, including land deeds, mortgages, liens, suits, judgments, and marriage/divorce records • Maintain current knowledge of privacy laws and public-record availability to ensure legal and ethical investigations • Travel as required • Perform other duties as assigned • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver reliable, defensible conclusions and client service
• Based in the greater Albuquerque, NM area; preference for candidates living in the greater Albuquerque area • Certified Fire & Explosion Investigator (CFEI) certification required at minimum • IAAI-CFI certification preferred; if required, must obtain it within 6 months of employment • Three (3) years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred • Good oral and written communication • PC literate, including Microsoft Office products • Strong organizational and time management skills • Strong interpersonal skills • Good analytical and interpretive skills • Strong investigative skills • Attention to detail and accuracy • Ability to work independently or in a team environment • Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies • Must be able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time • Must be able to kneel, squat or bend • Must be able to work outdoors in hot and/or cold weather conditions • Ability to climb, crawl, stoop, kneel, and reach/work overhead • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds • Ability to push/pull up to 100 pounds • Ability to drive up to 4 hours per day • Hearing, vision, and talking abilities
